Looking to Move Ahead with Your Software Testing Career in Manchester?
This role is ideal for someone with around a year of software testing or QA experience who wants to move ahead with her or his career.
At Mapway, we have a strong and supportive team following best development practices in a scrum framework. This makes it a great place to develop your skills and knowledge. As well as the usual package, there are great social events, flexibility on working hours and an office that is easy to get to by car or public transport. The job involves manual testing, with some involvement in automated testing possible later on. We provide training in the relevant techniques.
We’re looking for someone who is happy to learn, wants to work as part of a team, and can also understand the needs of the real people who use our apps as well as the technical issues that affect their behaviour. We have a small QA team, which means you’ll get to experience the full range of activities they do. We’re also always looking for new and improved techniques, which means you can expand your experience and stay current.
If you think this is you, please read on for more detail, or just send your CV with a covering letter to email@example.com
With a total of 26 transport apps in our portfolio, including Tube Map – our award winning London Underground app – Mapway has over 9 million users worldwide. Covering iPhone and Android devices our apps are designed to help commuters and tourists alike make journeys in cities such as London, New York and Paris. All of these apps rely for their success on their high quality – something that is ensured by our QA team.
We are looking for a Test Analyst to join our QA team. The role is ideally suited to someone with around a year’s experience who wants a new challenge and the opportunity to move ahead with their career by gaining new experience and skills, in particular with mobile apps. Our goal is to provide the world’s best travel and transport apps for people travelling around cities, and the QA team is vital to ensuring we deliver apps that work properly.
You will be working as part of the wider software development team, testing software throughout the agile development lifecycle to check that it meets requirements and is of high quality. You will be creating and running test scripts and reporting results in an industry standard ticket tracking system (JIRA).
In order to do this you need to be methodical, organised and enquiring. We’d prefer degree level qualified candidates, but will consider anyone with relevant experience. We’ll provide all the mentoring and training necessary to learn what we do and then to progress. You’ll need good written and verbal communication skills – a big part of the role is working alongside development and commercial staff to understand what our apps should really be doing and then to report back clearly on unexpected behaviour to allow problems to be dealt with. You’ll also need to be able to understand something about how people in the outside world will use our apps.
You will be joining an expanding company who can offer an exciting opportunity to start a career in software testing.
